Who we are...
White House Autism Moms (WHAM) was originially founded in 2007 by Marty Keith and Misty Phillips of White House, TN. We were an active support group for several years until "life" caused us to dissolve the group. In 2010, we brought the WHAM website back, set up a facebook page, and who knows what we might do in the future...
What is WHAM?
WHAM is an informal support group for parents of children with Autism and/or other special needs in White House and surrounding areas. "Informal" meaning that we don't have regular meetings and yet we're not completely online. We have this website for general information about the group and resources. We also have a facebook group where we can connect, share information about local Autism/Special Needs-related events, news, etc. and seek advice from each other.
What does WHAM do?
In recent years, WHAM sponsored Special Education Basic Rights and IEP Workshops that were presented by
STEP (Support and Training for Exceptional Parents), a "What is ABA?" workshop,
a Field Trip to Dinosaur World, etc. Beginning in January 2011, we plan to sponsor more workshops/trainings presented by STEP and other service providers.
Basically, we are parents helping parents find the resources, services and understanding they need in raising their children with Special Needs. We don't know all the answers, but we can help point you in the right direction!
